Aftercare

Waxing

Repeat bookings will vary according to the natural hair regrowth and client requirements, however in general:
Facial waxing appointments will be required every 3-4 weeks.
Body waxing appointments will be required every 4-6 weeks.

Redness of the skin is expected post treatment for up to 24 hours and can be soothed with aloe vera gel or a cool compress. If redness or swelling does not subside after 24 hours please contact the salon.

For the first 24 hours post treatment:
Wear lose clothing to avoid irritation and ingrowing hairs.
Do not use talcum powder, deodorant, antiperspirants, perfumes, self-tanning products or makeup over the treated areas, as these products can block the pores or cause irritation on the temporarily sensitised skin.
Avoid exercise, especially swimming and do not undertake any further heat treatments such as saunas, hot tubs or steam rooms, as you want to keep the skin as cool as possible.
Avoid touching or scratching the area as this may cause infection due to the open follicles.

Suitable home products to use:
Exfoliate the treated skin 2-3 days after treatment and then every 4-7 days onwards to prevent ingrown hairs. Regularly and gently exfoliate the skin and moisturise with a light lotion after.
Light moisturiser applied daily.

Brows & Lashes

Repeat bookings are required to keep the desired look:
Eyelash tinting every 4-6 weeks.
Eyebrow tinting every 3-4 weeks.
If you would like a repeat appointment earlier than recommended please do contact me to arrange this.
Exposure to UV rays, and applying and removing mascara regularly will lighten the tint much sooner.

Aromatherapy Essential Oil Massage – Currently Unavailable

Recommendations following treatment:
Healthy eating and drinking plenty of fluids (water, herbal tea) to promote a cleansing effect on the body, replacing any fluids lost and will help enhance mental wellbeing and good health at all times.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 6-8 hours.
Do not have a bath for at least 6 hours to allow the oils to penetrate the skin completely.
Avoid UV light exposure for 24 hours as some oils may cause photo-sensitisation.
Do not consume stimulants such as alcohol or caffeine for 24 hours following the treatment, as the body will readily absorb the chemicals or toxins during this time.

You may feel mixed emotions post treatment, including nausea and possible headaches . These are normal reactions as the scent enters the blood stream and nervous system triggering different memories in the brain.
It is also likely you will need to use the toilet more often, due to the excretory system being stimulated during the treatment.

The above reactions should normally subside within 24 hours.

Microdermabrasion Facial

Your treatment will have given your skin healthy stimulation, and flushness or light ‘heat’ should subside within 24 hours.

Recommendations following treatment:
Your skin may be slightly drier and minor flaking can occur, therefore we recommend using a calming moisturiser for the next few days. The more consistent and generous you are with the moisturiser, generally the quicker your skin will recover and keep any small breakouts at bay.
Keep your skincare routine as basic as you can for a few days. Focus on products that hydrate and soothe the skin, and you must not use anything exfoliating or aggressive.
Avoid active ingredients such as prescription topicals, AHAs/BHAs, Benzoyl Peroxide, Vitamin C and Retinol for a few days. The Microdermabrasion treatment is a professional-strength exfoliation, therefore you do not want to aggravate it whilst it recovers.
Avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible, especially within the first week post treatment, always ensuring sunscreen is applied generously at all times.
Try not to touch or scratch the area. Your skin will be sensitive for a few days and is best left alone for as long as possible.
Do not apply self tanning products or makeup to the treated area for 48 hours.
Avoid treatments such as waxing, laser, shaving, dermaplanning or any treatment that will manipulate the skin for at least 3 days. Doing any of these can cause major irritation.
Avoid vigorous workouts or any heat related activities such as saunas or steam rooms. Sweat is likely to cause stinging and irritation to the treated area.

Nourishing & Hydrating Facial

We recommend regular cleansing, toning and weekly exfoliation for all skin types, other than oily skin, where the exfoliant can be applied twice a week. However please always read the manufacturers instructions before proceeding.
Application of these facial products should be an upwards and outwards direction.
Always rinse thoroughly to remove all products from the skin, and then apply a nourishing moisturiser if performed at night.
UV sunblock should be used to protect the skin at all times, especially following the treatment.

Manicure & Gel Nails

Between nail appointments we recommend you take care of your nails and hands and have the below tips and guidance for you:
A well balanced diet and to plenty of water daily.
Wear gloves when gardening, cleaning or washing dishes.
Avoid metal nail files as these can be too harsh for natural nails, causing chips, splits and breaks.
Always file nails in one direction to avoid splitting.
Moisturiser should be applied daily, after immersing hands in water and last thing at night.
Do not bite your nails or surrounding skin.
Repeat appointments every 2 weeks are recommended for manicures to maintain the nail and skin condition.
Repeat Gelish polish and Soft Gel nail appointments are recommended every 2-3 weeks.

Swedish Massage & Audio Sonic – Currently Unavailable

Repeat bookings are beneficial to target certain areas of pain or discomfort. To obtain the best results possible from the massage, we recommend 1-2 times per week.
Do not eat a heavy meal for around 1 hour post treatment. The massage stimulates the digestive system and therefore intake of heavy meals too soon could cause complications.

For the first 24 hours post treatment:
Avoid stimulants such as alcohol and caffeine.
Rest for as long as possible, however strenuous exercise should be avoided for 24 hours.
As your body’s circulation returns to normal, the blood vessels will constrict, resulting in a need to visit the toilet frequently. This is normal and should subside within 24 hours.
Post treatment you may also feel nauseous, emotional or have a headache. Again these are normal and expected reactions that should subside within 24 hours.

Healthy eating, drinking plenty of water and relaxing bath products are recommended at all times to enhance the benefits of the treatment and help you feeling healthy, calm and relaxed.
